Thank you for being interested in working at Camp Tuku this Summer – we are currently hiring for our 2021 Camp Sessions!

Our Camp Director’s primary responsibility is to oversee the health and safety of campers and staff.

Essential Functions:

  1. Provide health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers.
    • Collaborate with other medical staff to meet medical needs.
    • Create health care policies and COVID-19 protocols per CDC/American Camp Association’s guideline.
  1. Handle health emergencies and injuries, including emergency preparedness and provisions for professional health care
  2. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state and American Camp Association Standards.
    • Ensure staff and camper health examinations are current and on file.
    • Prepare and utilize daily medical log for treatment and medications.
    • Prepare and record insurance and accident report forms.
    • Report required incidents to local health department within 24 hours.
  3. Oversee first Aid procedures and supplies.
    • Inventory and order all necessary medical supplies and equipment.
    • Prepare and distribute first aid kits throughout camp including camp vehicles, kitchen, offices, waterfront, activity areas, out-of-camp trips.
    • Ensure supplies are well stocked and distributed as needed.
  4. Ensure a staff orientation session is delivered on medical services.
    • Ensure camp staff and campers know their role related to health care and first aid.
    • Provide or ensure orientation is provided that includes standing orders, clinic hours, specific camper health and social needs, health center procedures, emergency procedures, growth and development of age groups, staff health assessment of campers, policies on contacting parents, transportation to outside health facilities, accident prevention and risk management, nutrition, and first aid in the camp setting.
  5. Screening all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp.
    • Verify health history and examination.
    • Verify emergency authorization.
    • Identify any observable evidence of illness or communicable diseases.
    • Conduct a health assessment.
    • Keep all medications used by campers and staff.
  6. Maintain optimal sanitary conditions throughout camp.
    • Observe daily cleanliness in the food service facility and other areas throughout camp.
    • Report any health problems or symptoms of illness to the Camp Director.

Qualifications:     Physician‡, nurse practitioner‡, physician assistant‡, registered nurse‡, licensed practical nurse‡, OR emergency medical technician.

With a focus on developing mindfulness and awareness, our unique summer camp experience offers a profound opportunity for kids to learn and practice simple, fun tools for self-awareness and self-expression, as well as daily techniques to respond more effectively to stressful situations in their lives.

As a General Counselor (GC), you will provide Camp Tuku will the first level of support for the campers in your assigned male bunk. You will serve as the big brother/big sister, parent and 24/7 role model for the 10-12 campers (ages 9-13) in your assigned bunk. Mandatory online training is required 2-3 weeks before camp. In person training begins 3-4 days before camp.

The primary function of the General Counselor is to build relationships with their campers and to create energy and fun within their bunks. Additionally, camper care is an important aspect to the job. General Counselors focus on all the details, ensuring the campers’ physical and emotional well-being, including any medical, dietary and social needs, are being met. You will be supported by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications: GC must be at least 18 years of age, have some college education or equivalent work experience, and remain a non-user of tobacco and alcohol during the dates of employment.
General Counselor at Camp Tuku must be energetic, patient, a role model, detail orientated, have excellent organizational and communication skills, and a proven ability to work with others.

As a General Jr. Camp Counselor, you will provide Camp Tuku the first level of support for the campers in your assigned bunk. You will serve as the big brother/big sister, parent and 24/7 role model for the 10-12 campers (ages 6-8) in your assigned bunk.

The primary function of the General Counselor is to build relationships with their campers and to create energy and fun within their bunks. Additionally, camper care is an important aspect to the job. General Counselors focus on all the details, ensuring the campers’ physical and emotional well-being, including any medical, dietary and social needs, are being met. Applicants must be energetic, patient, a role model, detail orientated, have excellent organizational and communication skills, and a proven ability to work with others.

Qualifications: At least 17 years of age Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, passion for working with children, and an ability to be silly and have fun! Experience working with children and must remain a non-user of tobacco and alcohol during the dates of employment. Requirements: Background check required + CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
